Tranny mounts and "heavy duty package"...WTF
« on: May 04, 2009 - 05:55:43 PM »
Ok, so changing gears a bit (pardon the pun) since the tranny guy tells me that the tranny could be ready by the weekend....."unless I decide to do something crazy, mod-wise.".

Went out to rock auto to get a mount.

They list two different ones, and for only $4 and 5 each....that doesnt sound right, a I need the bracket and all...

So go to autozone and they list two different mounts.....the look similar except that the "heady duty" version has two extra tabs sticking off of it, which look like mounting tabs.

Plus, my car wouldnt have come with a 727.

So I turn to this forum again to save my butt.....

Question 1 - Are the 727 and 904 mounts (bracket and rubber) the same?  Seeing as the crossmembers are, I assume "yes"...am I right?

Question 2 - I dont think I have any provisions for the "heavy duty" tabs......I think I use the standard one....How do I know?

Here is what they show for the "HD" version:

ANd here is the "non HD" version...

http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znetcs/product-info/en/US/wtm/EM-2512/image/5/

From the looks of what is shown in my manual , Barracudas use the standard style....

Do the new mounts come with the spacers shown in the manual?

Thoughts?

The tabs were used to mount the exhaust system.  I have had to cut them off - don't recommend.  904, 727 and 833 mounts are all the same.

PS. had to reply to this one since you used my name..

LOL!!! Thanks Changin' gears!

So its an easy choice then.      :woohoo:

Although I did mix them up....the "HD" is the one without the tabs......so I guess I want the heavy duty ones then?

What about the shims?  Do those come with the mount?

Guys I can feel it getting close.

That tranny getting done will be the last really major thing...bunch of little things, but once that tranny and cooler lines, starter, downpipes (still gotta figure those out) and hoses are in I can try cranking her for the first time!!!!!!!!!!! :cooldancing:  I'm getting giddy.

Now, still a little cornfused....

Rock Auto has the mount ...the whole thing is pictured.....for $4.28.

AUtozone and Napa etc want $20-40

Whats wrong with this picture?

Would someone take a look at Rockauto.com (Plymouth, 1972, Barracuda, 318) and go to transmission > mounts and tell mewhat you think?

Would love to save $25......but something seems awry....??? :clueless:

This is what I would go with.

The rubber ones can be VERY cheap made in China, you get what you pay for. I have found that the best rubber ones are good used OEM ones!

No, it won't.  The problem with the cheapo rubber mounts is they will settle on you, and if they settle far enough, you could lose a couple degrees on the angle, and could create wear problems.

Great! Consider it ordered!

Gonna also order the deep aluminum finned pan from them that tactransman suggested in another thread......save some shipping I guess.
