First of all this deal wont affect the muscle car industry in any way .secondly this deals not new i can dump my 1980s 1500.00 gm truck for 3k in rebates the only thing is i already have a new dodge truck ,and yet i didnt dump the gm truck to buy the new one . some will take advantage of the deal but very few will drag out a rare old car and scrap it for 3 grand or so ,when it comes to cash even an idiot can see a gain in a private sale for more cash . also junk cars have droped of from high steel prices the last several years ,this kinda make the whole deal moot .

At least for the short term the Democrats will win every program they put through.  That's why I say the  2010 and 2012 elections will be very interesting.

I believe this one is a slam dunk but the next one will be worse.   My guess is extra taxes for engines larger then 5 liters, more surcharges for trucks and vans and more deletions of performance cars.

Since the government now owns most of the Automakers they will continue to push in the name of progress and global climate change.  Look at the laws in Europe and know many of them are coming here.

The new Z/28s, SRT Challengers, V8 Mustangs, trucks and especially Corvettes will be gone or very different in the coming years.  We are living in the good old days right now.

i've talked to corvette owners who claim 26 to 30 mpg.that being said if the camaro gets the same powertrain they won't be affected.

I'm pretty sure these laws require the vehicle to be in running condition. CA has a version of this that is already in operation and has been for a number of years now. But you can't just drag out a parts car out of a field and trade it in for the voucher, it has to be drivable. Although it might affect some of the less desirable (ie, 4 door and such) models being used as daily beaters.
