Poll: Power or Manual Disc Brakes on 73 Chally

I'm going to paint the engine compartment on my 73 Challenger soon (318, non-rallye car...will be a driver). It currently has manual disk brakes, but I'm thinking of upgrading to power with either a used booster or a new one from Advance. I have all the other needed parts. I'm thinking this is the time to decide...BEFORE the paint is on!

The only reason I would consider leaving the system manual is that the brakes will work the same whether the car is running or not. (i.e.:engine vacuum is not an issue)

I've had (minor) issues in the past with engine stalling and having to use BOTH feet to stop the car! No problem with the manual disk setup.

I see no good side to manual.  Certainly wouldn't pay to go that way.

My car has manual brakes and I love them! Better feel imo. When I change out the spindles and go disc I will stay manual. I am assuming I will need a different master cylinder though.

I went from power to manual brakes on mine. Between needing a new booster and low engine vacuum (cam), it was worth my time to just covert to manual.

manual all the way! the power feels over boosted to me. i also prefer manual steering to the power as well.

I'd prefer to have manual steering as well, but haven't made it to that point. Just something else to give fuss, or leak on you in an old car. The manual brakes also keeps my wife from trying to drive it!

Wow, I would never thought to even ask this question and just assumed that power disc brakes were an obvious upgrade.  Given these responses, I may just reconsider and keep my stock manual disc brake setup.

I converted my cuda from manaul drums to power discs but had the same problem-lumpy cam gave me no brakes after idling in traffic.I could have added a vacuum resevior but that`s just more stuff cluttering up the engine bay so I switched to manual and love it.It doesn`t take that much more pedal effort,the feel is better and less weight and clutter=

Manual for me. All the cars I have had in the past ten years get the aluminum manual upgrade. I love it.

I have had both ways.  I do like the manual disk break setup like it was on my last Challenger.
