    Hello again everybody,
    what is the correct black gloss used for interior metallic parts like steering column, dash frame, glove box door, etc etc?

    I can't give you a paint code or anything, but the paint isn't gloss.   :grinno:

    More like semi-gloss, or closer to matte black.

    DOnt know if it is close to correct but I painted my glovebox door last night (finally got that @!$$ latch off! LOL) and used Krylon satin black...looks good so far....I had done my steering column stuff in semigloss (rustoleum 2x) and it looks really nice but felt it might be a little shiny for the whole dash...

    I used satin black too but am not at home so the brand escapes my little memory.................. :clueless:

    I think it was Rustoleum 7777 black...............

    Whatever.
    I have a clone so originality isnt a concern, but I do want it to look close enough, so I think I'll go with the krylon shaker can too. Several light coats should do it. Think a primer is necessary?
    I'm masking EVERYTHING off, and light sanding with a high #, and painting the hard to remove parts like the steering wheel in the car.

    If the black is like the colors, it's a suede paint.  There is a texuring agent along with the flattening agent.  It ends up feeling a little like sand paper.  I got my thunder blue poly mixed up at the local Wesco and put into spray bombs.  Not cheap, but is seems to be the only way to get even close to the right look.

    "usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

    Looking  at the interior colors I noticed the trunk covering too.  Splatter paint......gray and white.   I did mine in that and didn't know it was correct. thanks Barry...........

    It is not factory correct for 1970, it was used on some early 1960's cars though. It is odd that they had it on the newer paint chip charts for sure.  :screwy:
