I bought this bronze colored 318 in Chandler Arizona in the late 80's.  Shipped it to Okinawa where she got new rear quarter panels and a paint job (gee that sounds a lot easier than I remember it being :clueless:

Now she's in Germany where I replaced her 904 tranny with an A518 from a Dodge B250 Van.  I haven't hooked up her overdrive yet nor registered her for the road but in the parking lot she seems to be shifting 1,2,3 pretty well.  :22yikes:

I (had to) put a 8.8 ford rear in her from an Exploder with slight mods (new spring perches) and cut the drive shaft to fit.  Now I realize the B250 has a 360 in her when I thought it was only a 318 so next year I may make that swap.

Right now I'd be happy to find a non leaking power steering gearbox (mines cracked) and my speedometer from Summit.  Can you believe they gave me a two month window for mailing a speedometer when tirerack got 4 tires here in 4 days!? :dunno:

Interesting story, taking your car allover the world..... Did putting the A518 in pose any special challenges?  Also which torque converter did you use the original or the A518's.
