External oiling system question
« on: May 08, 2009 - 02:46:07 PM »
Hi folks,
I finally have the old motor out of the Challenger. Monday it will go for an engine bay paint job. Then the following week the 543 stroker goes to the engine dyno and then into the car. Here's my dilemma. The motor as seen in the pic has an external oiling system installed. My engine builder told me there may be an interference problem with the K-frame motor mount support and the hose adapter/fittings. It looks close. I've not tried to fit the motor, but it looks like I may have to notch out the bracket for a fitup. Anybody here running an external oiling system on a big block and how did you get around the interference problem with the motor mount support brace?? Thanks guys!! I can't wait to get this monster installed!!

That's purty!! Thanks. I'll try that. I was too tired to look at the other fittings. That 440 whooped my arse getting it out of the engine bay all by my lonesome. Especially trying to manhandle the hood without scratching the paint!! :22yikes:

Thanks Jason,
It's not open. I just took that pic at the machine shop. I've got valve covers on it. It's going to the engine dyno in two weeks. We'll see how close it gets to 650HP!! I've got to get the engine bay degreased, prepped and ready for paint on Monday. I think I'm gonna part out the 440. Nobody wants a used motor even though it's only got maybe 7-8K miles on it. I'll keep the rotating assy as a backup. The garage is getting full again....3 motors!! :burnout:

I'm running a torqueflite 727 with some mods to it. 3000 stall converter. It could stand to have some more upgrades with the expected torque of the motor, but will have to wait for more funds.

Like what Stroker has... have him move teh suction line to the rear intake port. You may need to grind a little off the K frame mounting pad to clear the fiting and line, or, you may not have to do anything. As it sits, you will need to do a bit of cutting I think...
