2 1/2" pipes with an X-pipe will work fine with any small block. I had the same setup on my old 318 68 cuda with a crossover and it made very little difference taking the whole exhaust off the car at the track behind the headers, even though it also lost considerable weight doing it. 
Once we had Ronald Reagan, Bob Hope & Johnny Cash. Now we have Obama, No Hope and No Cash!

I really like the 2 1/2" system with X pipe that I put on my car. I pieced mine together with a summit X pipe kit and some extra bends. Not nearly as nice as the TTI system, but I invested about half as much so I'm happy. Doubt it did much for my stock 318 other than make it sound cool, but it'll fit much better with the 340 when its done!  :bigsmile:

i bought the hedman x pipe junction from summit it worked good after install it really changes the way the exhaust sounds for sure. a buddy and i put an x pipe and a set of flowmasters on his camaro and dropped 4 tenths versus no x and turbo muffs.
