Shelby's Art Project Final
« on: May 13, 2009 - 11:33:55 PM »
Here is Shelby's Art project final. She got a 98 %  on it. She had to do a self portrait while looking in a mirror.

Very nice! Is it charcoal or pencil? I tried that many years back and I have no sense of shadows so I just draw stick figures.
Don't look back, I might be gaining on you.

She had to draw that after the fire. She might not felt like smiling too much.  :dunno:

That explains it, poor kid.

It is odd to see her in black & white since she is so colorful in real life.

How did it go yesterday?

Beer? You need something stronger that wont make you have to get up and go to the bathroom so often. :grinyes:

On a serious note, I have a ruptured disk between L4 and L5 that has my sciatic nerve almost completely pinched going to my right leg, is your problem anything similar to this or totally different? I read in your other post that you had broke your back a long time ago and I assume it is related to that. Have you had an MRI? I have learned some exercises and stretches that help me a lot. Could pass them on if you'd like.

Jackie,
No 12 ounce arm curls allowed until your back is better.  :nono:

So Until then, use a straw.   :2cents:

I had a MRI. What I have is about the same as you. I just keep repinching the nerve that goes down the back of my leg.And it's just not getting any better. Ouch. So, I'm hoping this will help or I will prolly have to have surgery. The Doc hasn't given me any excerises or stretches, yet. But if it will help, I'll try anything at this point. Thanks.

JAckie,

Your daughter has some serious talent. Is she considering art as a career? It taks a lot to capture a likeness, and it's really tough to capture proportion. Shelby did a great job. B
oth my wife and I are artists- I am an applied artist, and my wife is now an art teacher. It takes a good instructor to hone the subtlety of the student's talent. Quite obviously, she  has a good instructor, and a good art program. I am glad to see that people still take art seriously.

I had the same thing last August it was MISERABLE!!!! I ended up having a few shots of Lidocaine/Cortizone (Which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND) to help control the discomfort. I know above all, that you will get past this. My back still gives me trouble, but after a great deal of careful stretching, PT, and excercise, it is healing.
I used a vibrating heat massager to help loosen it up, Ice to stop the swelling, anti-inflammatory meds to keep it at bay, and pain killers for when it was too much.

best,

Dan
