I hate to hear this but thought it might be coming.  There will be a lot of jobs lost in this with Chrysler and with GM and bet Ford will follow as well.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

:22yikes:   Between Chrysler and GM that is a lot of lost jobs. I wonder how many of the dealerships carry multiple marques? :bricks1:

I wonder how many of these will be able to or even want to pick up a foreign marque? If that's even possible. Man I just hate the thought of another 100,000 people out of work. If Chrysler is closing 789 and GM somewhere around 2600 if only 25 people per location lose their job that is still almost 85,000 folks out of a job. Man this sucks!

Monicatti surprised me too. I see ads for them in Mopar Muscle every month.

Man, they're closing?  They had the best prices on everything when I checked.  Maybe thats why.

Not my local dealer, but the next closest Chrysler one is closing.  Wont miss that one though, its in the same place as the Chevy dealer.  Also the same guy that owns it own the closer GM dealer right down the road from me.  He's a GM guy anyway, he could care less about Mopar.

The ones that surprise me are Frederick in Ohio, and Wyckoff in New Jersey.  Frederick is renowned for being one of the best dearlership experiences in this country, and they are selling Challengers like crazy.  Bob Jr is also a columnist at redletterdodge.com.  Wyckoff is a big-time parts dealer.

Also of note, but not a surprise to see on the list, is Darner in Mesa, AZ.  That's the dealership in the movie "Used Cars" owned by the evil twin brother.  BTW, the dealership still totally looks like that.  The dealership across the street that was owned by the good brother has been an apartment complex for many years now.

I was surprised to learn that the largest Dodge dealer in my area (Folsom Lake Dodge) is on the list - they have almost 700 new cars in inventory - yikes!
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

I read where Chrysler wants its dealers to carry Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep, and was going to make that one factor in deciding which dealers to close. They also looked at sales volume and proximity to other C/D/J dealers. I'm sure they have been working on this for some time, and that there was nothing random or haphazard about their choices.

Hopefully, this will make them stronger and better able to weather this downturn.
