Finished
« on: May 15, 2009 - 05:08:34 AM »
I had mine restored by a local shop.  Just completed.  Stock 383, ps, power disc, a/c and a kiesler 5-spd.  Not a fire breather, but will be a nice cruiser.

Sweet looking car.

However, I just can't help thinking some aftermarket wheels will make that car pop.  The rallyes are a bit...plain?  Not a diss; just what I've always thought of Rallyes.

I agree. I originally had rallyes on my 71 Cuda and then went with the 17" Boyds. My wife stole the Boyds for her 73 and I just recently bought another set of rallyes for mine. The car just looks so plain now with the rallyes. I don't think this is going to last long.
I think your Challenger would look great with a set of polished ten spokes. Don't even think about Torq Thrust II's. They are so last decade now. Go with 18x7's (4 1/4" BS) on the front with P235/50R18's and 18x8's (4 1/2" BS) on the back with P255/50R18's. That is the safe way to go and not have fitment issues.
Or just keep the rallyes for that original look.  ;D

Nice car.

Nice looking car! Do you have higher resolution versions? I try to get as many B5 Challenger pics as I can  ;D. You could email them if you have them, my email for my profile will work fine.

I think the rallye's look good, even if they are kind of a standard choice. Although in the aftermarket department there are a lot of "standard" choices as well, half the cars I see with aftermarket rims seem to have Torque Thrusts or TTII's (yes, even mine, although my rims were on the car when I bought it). I'll be putting 17's on mine, but no bigger otherwise the sidewall just gets too small, doesn't look right to me on the old musclecars.

I've loved my 17" Boyds, but everyone keeps telling me that 17"s are passe. If you don't have 18's or bigger, you're just not keeping up. I will tell you that my 17 Boyds don't ride as nice as my 16 Hopsters and the 16's don't ride near as well as my 15" rallyes.
As for the ride quality, I can assure you that it doesn't get much better than 15" radials.

The car originally came with the road wheels, but I wanted to go 15 inch.  Didn't like the repro road wheels, so decided to go rallye.  I like the stock look.

To me the rallyes just look right on an e-body.
Here's a comparison of my car with the rallyes and the Boyds.
The wheels can make the car look completely different.

Thanks. The red 71 Cuda was actually cloned from a GC.
I have a real tor-red 71 cuda and I plan to put rallyes on it when I restore it.
