Notice the different shades of tan for the interior. Almost every different material get a different shade when it comes to colored interiors (not just challengers, any car). Padded dash and arm rest, then metal dash frame and rear window surrounds, then injected plastic kick panels, door panels, lower dash trim, console...
I saw a picture of a red challenger interior today that looked like it all came out of the same spray gun.
And it was a really high dollar car with a very nice resto. Reds should have all kinds of shades to them.
The T/A and AAR were rarely dealer ordered. You got what you got.
So...the steering column is black because it came out of the factory with a std cluster the dealer added the rallye cluster. Has factory part number and correct date codes on it. The rear defroster is dealer add on too. Notice the black grates instead of the speaker die cuts that would be in a factory package tray. If you look at a 70/71 parts book that still has the accessories section in it you will find a dealer installed defroster setup like that.
Car was restored to the point in time that it left the dealership. So exhaust tips were installed, hub caps, trim rings, and chin spoilers.
