Troy from Simi Dodge Mopar Performance's Challenger TA

This car was was restored by Troy in a two car garage. He is the head Judge we have at Spring Fling. He did everything himself except the paint. Troy is the top seller of Mopar Performace and TTI stuff formally of Westoaks Mopar Performace now of Simi Dodge Mopar Performance (805) 578-8144.

The car had about 40K original miles in So Cal all of it's life and less than 10 miles from the original dealer. All the suspension was original, so ALL the factory markings were all still there. All markings you see were there before and documented. No guessing or copying off another car.  :nono: Had all original paint too. Previous (first) owner did some motor work, headers and lightly spray bombed the engine compartment.

This car is very very close production wise to the ultra low mile Yellow 4spd T/A that Barry Washington has a picture CD of. Many of the markings are the same between the two cars.

Sorry for the size, but it helps

All done in this garage. No lifts, no rotesserie... Sometimes you just can't pay to have a certain level of detail and research done to a car. You just can't bill those kinds of hours out.

Notice the different shades of tan for the interior. Almost every different material get a different shade when it comes to colored interiors (not just challengers, any car). Padded dash and arm rest, then metal dash frame and rear window surrounds, then injected plastic kick panels, door panels, lower dash trim, console...

I saw a picture of a red challenger interior today that looked like it all came out of the same spray gun.  :nono: And it was a really high dollar car with a very nice resto. Reds should have all kinds of shades to them.

The T/A and AAR were rarely dealer ordered. You got what you got.

So...the steering column is black because it came out of the factory with a std cluster the dealer added the rallye cluster. Has factory part number and correct date codes on it. The rear defroster is dealer add on too. Notice the black grates instead of the speaker die cuts that would be in a factory package tray. If you look at a 70/71 parts book that still has the accessories section in it you will find a dealer installed defroster setup like that.

Car was restored to the point in time that it left the dealership. So exhaust tips were installed, hub caps, trim rings, and chin spoilers.

This repro carpet was cut using the factory original carpet to this car as an exact templete on top of it. Same footwell cutouts for a 70 Cuda and I would assume all E-bodies.

Interesting information, if you do not mind showing all the links or pictures you have of the interior of Troy's car, that would be much appreciated :2thumbs:  so hard to find any good reference pictures of Tan colored interior.

I would ask Dave at ECS for pictures of his black on tan 70 hemicuda. That has NOS panels.

Troy's dash is Just Dashes and the door and kickpanels are those Legendary/Palco reman stuff. Those repro panels are junk that took Troy 4 hours for each panel to get to fit right.

I have talked to Dave and know the exact car you are talking about, beautiful car too.  I have some interior pictures of it.  I have heard the Palco trim is not a real nice fit and need a lot of work to make fit right.  Thanks heaps for your time :2thumbs:

Notice the black out in the inside of the A pillar. Troy didn't understand at first why they did this. But when you put on the inside plastic A piller molding it doesn't fit perfect and cover the painted body A piller stampings. So if you had an orange car with black interior and you were driving down the road you'd see bits of orange showing past your interior. Its right in the driver field of vision.

Same idea in the corners of an E-body bottom rear seat. You can see the body (color) through the gaps of seat to rear side panels and corner to the top rear seat. So they painted it black so it wouldn't stand out. Clever really
