A-body 8 3/4 info

I know nothing about it other than it came with my 73' duster, its a 489 housing, the guy says it has 4.10 gears in it, and it doesn't appear to be posi after tearing it down.  the only real numbers that meant anything to me on the gears was "2.73"  did mopar make that gear ratio even?  And does anyone know of any disc brake backing plates that bolt to the 8 3/4 axle tubes?

2.73 is a standard Mopar gear.

if you pulled an 8 3/4 out of a 73 duster then someone put it under there how wide are the spring perches and what bolt pattern is it?

could be the narrow 66-70 B body diff
 SSBC makes a disc  brake kit for the 8 3/4 diff , also I bet Scarebird has something that works too

wheel mounting flange to mounting flange is almost right at 54".  Has small bolt pattern axles

I'm trying to figure out what rear end width to look for so that I can fit 8" wide tires under it without the rubs.  I don't even know what wheels I'm going with yet, anyone with experience in this area give me some pointers?

Sell the A-body rear end for a lot of money and buy a B-bod rear for cheap. 1966 to 1970 B-body that is..

The B-body rear will have the right bolt pattern and will bolt right in with the Super Stock spring hanger kit.  That setup will give you an extra inch on each side in the inner wheelwell for fat tires.

You will never find decent wheels for you car with the A-bod rear because of the weird bolt pattern,, 5 on 4"
