My last day in Canada
« on: May 17, 2009 - 07:56:31 AM »
Well, it has been fun and a challenge working here the last month. Today is my last day of work here.  I am meeting up with Chryco this afternoon hoping to go have a steak dinner and say goodby. I also got to meet onebadfish while I was here. I got to drive down to Montana by way of Helena then on down to my home in Alabama for a couple of days before shooting over to West Virginia. So I got 2500 miles to drive to get home.  I hope customs doesnt hold me up to long getting back into the USA.

The Canadians seem to be getting ripped off by high taxes and cost of living.  They could really use a break.  Thanks for making me welcome here.

I hope you have a good time at home and that you get through customs without a problem.  I know when I went to canada I had problems getting back into the usa.  Hope you dont run into the same problems.

I got through customs with all my stuff in less than 10 minutes   I drove 912 miles today. And my dam trailer tongue broke in half again , right when I left the fuel stop. Im stuck in Casper Wyoming for now.   Im a bit ticked. but I will make it through this. I have to be in W. Va on June 1

I got the broke part, but didnt get any pics. It all got repaired today tho. It took 9 hrs with road service then repair fab shop. I also put my truck in the gm dealership and had a bunch of filters changed and such. This was a 1000 buck day today. Glad I used my corp card. I leave out at 5am to drive another thousand miles. Im worn out after 84 hrs of work last week.

I did have a blast going cruising in Chryco's charger.  He is also a real McGiver on the road   We couldnt go over 100 mph since the speed limit was only 60 km . but we did 100 mph in second gear :burnout: :wow:  Thanks for the fun Neil :2thumbs:

:bananasmi glad to hear you are on your way again Alan.  Shame it cost the company so much to fix it this time  There is a knack to how a trailer hitch should be welded on to the toungue end of a trailer, i would like to see pictures of the broken area to see if it was what i am thinking it is buddy, or it could just be under sized or anything.
Travel safe from now on old mate :2thumbs:

Take care Alan and hope to see you this weekend.  May be going to Ill to see at least one of my grand kids and my sisters and cousins so Elaine can meet them.  I will be going home on Thursday night.  Glad you got it repaired.  Be careful and drive safe.

12,500 tongue cap.   It broke in front of the welds by quite a bit.  I just need to re arrange the machines.  I do have over 500,000 miles that I put on this trailer myself.  I want another one.  The cost was including 2 motel room days too. 400 bucks worth of work on the trailer, 390 on my truck at dealer , 240 for the room and 300 bucks pay for stand by.  I would be very close to my home right now too :stomp: But I just counted to 10 and road it out. This could of killed me tho. I had been doing 82 mph through Montana and 80 through Wyoming. Glad it didnt do it then :swaying:

I will be resting for a couple of days, then doctor, then sat I want to run my car down the track maybe.  I also have to install 1500 sqft of half inch wood on my ceiling and then do the walls . Prob cant get it all. I have 700 miles to drive to W. Va, then work 2 weeks then off for the car show I hope from july2 to july 17 or so
