BMW M nice try!

On the way home from a show today I hit a short section of two lane and  I was cruising past a few cars in the left lane when I noticed a car coming back up beside me on the right.When he got beside me I realized he wanted to play so I just floored it.He stayed besied me for a second or two till I started building power and then I just slowly pulled away till I noticed my shift light come on,only problem is I didn`t have anymore gears!I let off and pulled to the right since I was getting off at the next exit and I see It`s a Beemer.The guy gives me the thumbs up and pulls away and I notice the M on the trunk.Not sure what the new ones have for power but he gave me a little bit of a run.Still,Mopar 1-BMW 0 !

Nice! but the M probably had two  more gears lol. Also depends if he hit the right buttons, if he just stabbed the throttle he wont get all the "M" outta it. So be careful! lol (bmw tech)

Ya,with the 3.91`s I`m all done around 110-120 and I`m sure he had a lot more.We rolled from about 70mph and of course from a dead stop I bet he`d have a lot of catching up to do!

They changed the M3 in 2008 to a 4.0 liter v8 from a twin turbo v6. It was making around 360 hp with the v6, but they upped it to 420 with the new v8. It really is an impressive engine, you should see the tests they put that car through. GoodysGotACuda also already mentioned the "buttons". There is different settings on an M car, daily driving, one other and M Mode, which is max performance. They are very quick, nice handling cars. I want one so bad, but I can't afford it and also I have a 6 wk old son so we need the 4 door car.

Nice kill though, that was definitely one of the better ones considering the performance of the M.

BMW hasn't made a V6 engine and the M3 hasn't been turbocharged (yet)

The old E46 M3 engine was an inline six, naturally aspirated. When they went to the E90 body style M3, they went to the V8. The only Twin turbo 6cylinder they have (which again is inline) is availible in the 1, 3 and 5 series vehicles. 135, 335, and 535. There is now a twin turbo V8 engine which has been installed in the E71 "X6", and the F01/F02 new 7-series.

Oh...and you do know they make a 4-door M3 right?

Sorry I didn't know it was an inline 6. I do know that it was a twin turbo before they changed to the V8 though. And yes I do know they make a 4 door, but it is a 4 door and I want a 2 door. I haven't seen a 4 door in real life yet either, although I have seen a bunch of 2 doors.

Sorry but not here in the states, and not factory twin turbo M3. I went through the BMW S.T.E.P program and am a current Level 1 BMW Technician at the local dealership...still yet to see a factory tt M3..

lemming, you might think of the Audi S4?
Went from a 250HP (Detuned for North-America) 2.7 biturbo in 1997-2002 to a 339 HP 4.2 V8 in 2002-2005, and 2005-2008. Latest is a supercharged V6 with 329 HP for 2008-present.
