Need a fuel pump recommendation

My fuel pump went out yesterday and I want to replace with a different style.

The engine is a 416 SB stroker with a 770 Holley Street Avenger. The fuel pump is currently a Holley HLY 12-838 (80gph). This fuel pump does not fit well and I want something eqivalent but something that fits better then this pump. I was looking at either the Holley HLY 12-360-11 (110gph) or the Carter GM 6270 (110gph).

I would like to hear if anyone has any experience with either of these fuel pumps or what fuel pump you are running on you 416 or 408 stroker motor. This car is mainly street driven but it does get spun up to 6500rpm occasionaly.

I don't have an answer to your question, but how old/ how many miles on the old Holley pump??  Carter used to be good stuff, but who makes them for Carter now??  I just can't make myself buy stuff made in Vietnam, etc.

The old pump was a year old and only had about 500 miles on it.  I was spinning the motor up hard thru the gears when it quit.  I was also low on fuel at the time so I am not sure if that contributed to the failure.  I am going to pull the pump off tomorrow to see why if failed.

What I looked for when considering my fuel pump was high flow (100+gph), low pressure (6psi), and 3/8" fittings.  So I went with the Edelbrock 1720 pump which supports 600HP.  Works great!  If you decide to get one of the others you listed I recommend a regulator so that you can lower the pressure.

Thanks Stroker, but I already ordered another holley mechincal pump from Summit.

It turns out that one of the diaphram housings (on the outlet side) of the fuel pump came loose, it looks like it was orginally pressed in.  Since it came loose I'm guessing the fuel pump probably could not keep suction and pressure to get the fuel to the carb.
