Wiring Help
« on: May 19, 2009 - 12:35:26 AM »
hi guys,

I am converting over from a standard dash to a rallye.

Does anyone have some good close-up pictures of the wiring behind the dash connected to the instruments and the various connectors.  I have a bunch of them that go nowhere.  :clueless: Just need from the ash tray over to the drivers side.

Thanks guys I really appreciate it. :2thumbs:

virtually everthing should line up , you have to extend a couple of wires & add power to the clock & Tach & tach feed to the coil

Would you (or anyone else) have a picture of the back of the rallye dash with the wires hooked up :1zhelp:

I'll turn the tables on you since I don't have a pic of the wiring. Can you post a pic of what you don't understand as far as the wiring goes? The only place it's tricky is the gas, oil, temp cluster, but the back side of the Rally gauge pod will tell you what color wire goes to each gauge. As Chryco mentioned, you need to find a constant positive voltage feed for the clock, and a positive source that is turned on by the key for the tach. I'll post a pic of how the limiter is wired. This will give you a start anyway.

Thanks for the limiter wiring I'll get it done tonight! :2thumbs:
Mine is indentical to your picture ...basically. The backside of the rally cluster has some markings on it but I cannot tell if they are color codes or not. So I basically need to know what color wire hooks up to the rest of the cluster. The bottom four posts are for what and which one is which and which color of wire connects to it? The tach has 5 posts on it but which post should I feed to the coil?

hope this makes sense....

Thanks guys, your help will soon make my dream come true!!!! :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

I may have a photo on my home computer that has all the wiring hooked up.  I'll look when I get home tonight.

Here is a pic of the back of the tach. The long screw should have a blue wire with a cap on it for power. Above it is a screw I made a black mark/arrow by. There should be a lug on there for a gray wire that comes from the "-" side of you ignition coil.

As for the rest of that 4-gauge cluster, the color of the wires should be engraved on the back of the gauge pod. The bottom is the amp gauge where the BIG red and BIG black wires go. Again, that should be marked on the back of the gauge pod as to where each wire goes.

everything is cast into the rear of the dash , the 4 posts are the guages , the 2 bottom ones are the heavy red * black for the ammeter , red is clearly marked , the other 2 are the fuel & temp , fuel is blue temp is purple , oil is grey , all the lights are marked as well , the brake light is the 2 wire plastic socket , green & tan are the turn signals , red is high beam
