insulation under package tray and behind trunk divider

So what is the hot ticket for replacing the "stuff" they use under the package tray and behind the trunk divider board as sound/heat/cold insulation?
I made a new package tray and covered it in vinyl and it is ready to install aside from the insulation issue.
Looking for something that works well and wont break the bank,.,.

Yeah, I bought new jute pieces, but I'm not real sure how much good 1/2" of insulation does for anything.

I used a Rubber type sound deadener back there as well.

Here I go, cutting in on another thread! When reinstalling the package tray, and putting the interior rear qurters back in, does the rear quarters or the package tray go on top of one another? I looked for some pics, but could not find any. Thanks!

I believe in the spray on sound deadeners such as Lizard Skin, Second Skin Audio,..etc. I used Second Skin Audio on both sides of all the undercarriage and interior sheet metal on my 65 fastback stang along with a jute type padding with a foil heat barrier. I am very satisfied with the reduction in unwanted noise and it gives the car a more solid feel. I dont think you can beat the sound deadening property per thickness.
