Like the others, I don't believe that they are playing hard ball with the prices when they are in the situation they are in.
They aren't in the position to be price gouging. I guess their thought process is indicative of the mess they got themselves into....
Bargain as much as you can then see if they will throw in goodies for free to seal the deal, like floor mats, etc.... see what they have in the parts department, throw in oil changes, diecast model, etc....
Pit 2 dealers against each other...
When I worked at an Acura dealership, a customer was haggling between our dealership and another then what it came down to was who threw in the floor mats. Crazy as it sounds, but you might as well get as much as you can while you're still at the bargaining table.....
