They came down a nother 1k or so. I am still considering it but not sure.  I am going to call another dealer also to see what they say.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I called and left a message with that dealer to come down another 2k or I would not trade for it.  I also called a new dealer to see what they offer.

I agree and that is what I told the dealer.  I have talked to another one and I am not sure about it though.  So will try to find another one to talk to.

It's simple.  Give them your honest price that you are willing to pay, and leave it at that.  Just be absolutely sure that if they are willing to meet your price, that you are prepared to buy.

Like the others, I don't believe that they are playing hard ball with the prices when they are in the situation they are in.  :screwy:  They aren't in the position to be price gouging.  I guess their thought process is indicative of the mess they got themselves into....

Bargain as much as you can then see if they will throw in goodies for free to seal the deal, like floor mats, etc.... see what they have in the parts department, throw in oil changes, diecast model, etc....

Pit 2 dealers against each other...

When I worked at an Acura dealership, a customer was haggling between our dealership and another then what it came down to was who threw in the floor mats.  Crazy as it sounds, but you might as well get as much as you can while you're still at the bargaining table.....

Try finding a Lithia dealership. I don't know if there are any near you, but a friend of mine works at a Lithia dealership and he told me that they list the Challengers with a 5k markup just to see if anyone is willing to pay it, but they are more than willing to deal even below MSRP. It's Litia's company policy. Don't let the excitement of the car blind your judgement on the price, especially now with the economy. Take your time and shop around, you will be happier in the long run. Good luck.  :2thumbs:

I am not sure of where a Lithia dealership would be would be nice to find an honest dealership to deal with.  I am going to take my time with this deal and let them see what they are willing to do.

The deals can be had. My car had a 36k sticker, I paid 32,600 out the door ...including tax title delivery and destination charges.

In my book that was nearly 6k off sticker on the vehicle deal.  :2thumbs:

Maybe this is why the dealership did not take you seriously?  You are more likely to get better treatment and a fair deal if you are a serious buyer, have good credit and are ready to pull the trigger at that moment (if the deal is right).

When I bought my Ram (and Grand Caravan, too, for that matter) I did not walk onto the lot until I was ready to buy. I have good credit, I had a check for the down payment in my pocket and I was ready to sign if a good deal could be struck.  The salesman took me seriously because he could see that I was.  I made what I felt were fair offers and we negotiated the deals and I signed right then.  Make it clear that you will finalize the deal immediately if the numbers are right.

A wishy-washy, "we'll see" (tire kicker) attitude is only going get you the same treatment in return. How much time do you expect a salesman to spend with you if he feels that you're not serious or that you're wasting his time?
