Man this thread was a barn burner! go-fish can sure cut up the carp  :scared:  And for joltinjoe, if you were truly Libertarian you would see through Obama's "smoke and mirrors" as you put it. Bush had his faults I readily admit that but anyone who sees Obama for anything more than the ultimate snake oil salesman that he is, is just fooling themselves. Bush might have wasted money but this guy is throwing out bales of it as he passes overhead in Air Force One.

Sorry Burnt Orange, I tried to keep it to a PM but then this guy wanted to say Topcat (an innocent in this) was talking out of his a$$ as well as myself.

He didn't understand that I didn't PM him in the first place to have an internet fight. I was wanting to discuss and he started cutting down.

You get called out when you do that.

If you will notice my posting, it has dropped sharply since the elections. This was due to the political threads and I don't like getting all in a tizzy about them. While this one wasn't political, it sucked me in but it was more about JoltinJoe being a Jerk. I was a jerk back.

I have been on here for awhile (2005) and have some great friends here, I hate that I played at least one part in taking this thing off topic.

How, bout those dealers closing?!?!?!

Sorry Burnt Orange
How, bout those dealers closing?!?!?!

No problem!

Actually, I think it is kind of funny how so many topics deteriorate into political discussions on this forum.  I love watching the evolution of the thread as individual opinions change its direction.  The amazing thing is how civilized this all remains without any administrators keeping a lid on things.  I guess that is what makes CCC special, or at least different.

My wife says that we all get along because those of us with Barracudas know we have the best so we are tolerant, and the Challenger owners are trying to be nice so they can be our friends.

Yes. It's pretty laid back here.
On another Mopar website (guess which one) if you even bring up the slightest hint about politics or religion, the thread gets locked or even deleted in a flat second.

As I said before in an earlier post, the Chevy dealer was gone over the weekend. The Dodge dealer in town didn't come back after Katrina.
The only dealer in town left is the motor company that didn't take a bailout. I have this urge to buy a Ford for some reason, LOL.

I work at a Ford dealership as a tech, I know but a job is a job. We seem in good shape right now, not as many cars coming through but still enough to do business.

I just hope the 3 can pull out of this.

From what I understand, the closing of lower performing dealerships helps the "Factory" because they no longer need to support them by holding paper and/or covering warranty expenses and the cost of delivering parts and other means of support.  Yes, the dealerships purchased franchises from the Factory, however when in bankruptcy, all contracts are rendered null and void.

This also graphically illustrates how deeply in bed with the Unions Prez. Obama is.  Instead of voiding their contracts, he gave the UAW partial ownership of the company.  To me, that's kind of like handing the keys to your new car to your drunken dim witted brother that has ruined 3 of his own cars.  Hopefully, the leadership of the unions will see how their myopic behavior has helped wreak havoc on a great industry that has really vastly improved its product over the past 2 decades.

Unfortunately the unions will not get to experience the difficulty and handicap they inflict on the automakers as they will be selling their ownership to shore up themselves up.  Chrysler's union held shares will be sold to Fiat, GM who knows.

Is that really the plan? The unions are going to sell out their shares to third parties?  Wasn't there some sort of clause put in place to prevent that?  So basically, the vendors for the Factories are going to get screwed, the regular shareholders are going to get screwed, and the Unions are going to get a bunch of free shares?  WTF?!!?!?  Can't they see how even in the "bad economy"  the non-unionized auto-makers are still not talking about bankruptcy?

It is my understanding that Fiats initial interest in Chrysler will be somewhere around 12-15%.  Then at some point the union held shares are to be sold to Fiat bringing Fiats share around 50%.  Also, this Chrysler deal will set the groundwork for how the GM deal will be handled.

I'm waiting to see how much China is going to get. We are seeing a re-defining of "global economy".
It is like the U.S. is having a garage sale and China is the one that gets up at 5 am and gets ALL the news papers searching fo sales.
The Illegal Immigrants are selling lemonade 5 cents a glass out at the corner.
