What is this bracket for behind 1970 grill

Photo shows where grill attaches to head light backer plate, but what is the black right angled bracket for??

There is a support as you say, it is on the side of backer plate, and extends back to rad support.   So I"m still lost on the little bracket.

That little bracket is for the '71 grille not the '70. Hope that helps

Yeah, that bracket is on my 71 I know. Check for the slots at the top of the fenders and I bet you will find you have a 71 fender or even 2 if that bracket is on both sides.

He wouldn't have 71 fenders because he just changed the buckets and put them in his 72-74 fenders. Those buckets must have come from a 71 then.
