To spray or not too spray, need your opinions.
« on: May 23, 2009 - 02:18:58 PM »
Anyone ever spray this area with Bed liner material? It doesn't impede any parts that need to be put on does it? I am wanting to spray this with black bed liner and the inside engine compartment will be painted to match car color. :clueless:

My Challenger has a black spray-on type substance that is similar to bed liner coating. It may be. The entire underside was painted this substance when I had the car painted. It doesn't impede with anything and protects from corrosion. I know it doesn't look as pretty as a painted/detailed underbody but it sure does keep it from rusting!! I wouldn't hesitate to do it if it were my car. Just IMHO!!! :2cents:

I sprayed mine with bedliner that I had color matched. So my whole underside and fenderwells are hemiorange bedliner  Just goto autobody store and get the tintable bedliner and have them mix a color for you   :2thumbs:

I'm not a big fan of body colored wheel wells,

black bedliner or high grade undercoating would be my choice

Thats kind of the direction i was going, keeping it black will make it a bit easier for future re-paints of differing colors.

I am going to paint and leave my inner fenderwells the the same Gomango orange as the car.  I thought of putting back on the liner material and replicating the original spray pattern, but for one my car will see less than 2000 miles a year on the road.  Probably less than half of that.  My primer has epoxy in it that should provide a tough durable undercoat.  And I was thinking that (if) down the road a 2,3, or hell 5 yrs or more I could always come back an put the car on the lift, tape it off and spray the bedliner finish if the orange got to looking raggedy.  Im also not going to undercoat the bottom side of my car.

Just don't forget to mask off the upper control arm mounting points. It is a tight squeeze as is.

Does the 3M just get mixed up and shot with a paint gun?  :chatting:
