great info, after messing with these cars for 24+ years i did not know there was 2 different b5s. i am planning on painting my car blue and was not sure if i was going to use b5 or b7 because some of the b5 cars i have been seeing lately have looked very light so i was leaning towards b7 but now i want to see some cars with the later b5. anyone have any good pics to post of all 3 colors? :1zhelp:

I had a 71 Super Bee which was originally B7, but repainted the lighter, earlier B5. Still deciding which way to go on the 73 Chally. There's a Ford truck metallic blue that looks nice, too.  :poopoke:

Any good auto paint store should have a scanner but I doubt will loan it out.I don`t even know if it is portable as I think it is hooked up to a computer??Do you have a trunk lid(underside) or something you can un bolt and bring in to the store?

when playing around with my car I mixed up Doupont alt#1 c7 that is only available in BC/CC. I converted it to single stage urethane and used PPG green epoxy as a sealer, the color match was very close.I then did some cut ins with the same alt#1 mix but in BC and over V-shade#4 sealer, the color as expected came out a little lighter and less chromatic.
factory cars were single stage enamel painted over that milky green/grey sealer plus all the other reasons you have so many alt.color recipe.what plant, what day, what year, paint vat empty or full?your car painted at the factory early after a run of red cars,blue,purple,pink,green,black...you get the idea.
Plus BC/CC looks different over SS but by todays standards you would probably not care for a SS enamel metalic paint job.
