I got lucky today
« on: May 25, 2009 - 06:10:01 PM »
I found a 73 challenger for 500 bucks I could go buy, but I didnt look at it. They said it was complete but rusty. When I was there the guy had a 69 charger with a 440 in it. He thought it was original bb car. But I pointed out to him it was actually a 318 car. He went from 10.5 to around 4k then :bigsmile:but it needed a trunk, gastank im sure, lower quarters and other stuff.

Then I won a new gas hot water heater in a drawing I got pick up tomorrow at Amerigas. :bananasmi  But........ I have an electric heater now. But it was free

Then my wife went for another ride with me today and said to go get 12 gallons of 110 leaded fuel for my car :burnout:   On the way back she said I needed to find a truck or rent a truck to trailer my car to Carlyle :woo:

I might should go and buy that challenger. A 500 buck ebody is a find as it is. You think?  318 ac console car. He said the interior is good and the car is complete

Hi Alan  sounds like a bargain on the Challenger buddy.  WHat made you say the Charger was a 318 car ? the dash vin ? what was it......

So you are allowed to go to Carlisle hey, and trailer your car up there.  I hope Peggy decides to do the trip up there with you :2thumbs: sounds like the first trip in the Baracuda for Peggy was a blast and she is enjoying it more so, wait until you fit that 499 :22yikes: then her eyes will pop :roflsmiley:

Congrats on winning that stuff too :2thumbs:

Even if its rusted you can more than make your money back on that car. Go back and get it. Until you get that cheap E-body I dont consider the day to be lucky for you.

Wow! awesome luck you have!

Wish I could find a score like that!

Do it to it. The interior alone is worth double.
What color is the car?

I would not mind that 73 for that price.  Sounds good to me and you did not even mention it to me.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

i saw a 73 for sale minus the powertrain for 900. I couldn't afford it at the time which sucked.

Congrats on your find!

I got busy today and didnt make it over there.  It also rained today so it hampered me some. I most likely will go buy it if I can. Chryco rang my bell with his words of wisdom.  I was able to get my 400 block over to the machine shop early enough for them to rough bore it .030 over so I could stick the crank, rod and pistons in to measure the deck height. Then back to the shop for a finish bore, line hone and deck the surface.

I also got started on having my ceiling installed in my shop. I have an 9 ft ceiling with 1 inch foam on the roof, then 1/2 inch foam on the ceiling and now half inch press board covering it all. Then the walls are next. I have 1 inch foam on them and will have 1/2 inch press board up maybe by next week. Sure feels good getting this work done. I will see about the challenger this week sometime.  I had to go see about my hitch on my truck today to and it took a while. When I mail off Hemikens parts, I will see about the 73.. I will take my camera with me when I go. I will most probably part the car out. I was told the interior is good. Not going to ebay stuff, just sell some of it here is about it. May keep the hull for a race car cept I'd rather a barracuda then a challenger.  NO OFFENSE
