Why is it
« on: May 27, 2009 - 09:51:48 PM »
Even tho I have built a hundred engines or so, I always get excited when bringing another engine back to life.

I'm doing a 440 source 499 cube useing a 400 block.  Simple build, but excited as always.

It's like a quest for me and StRoKer got me started again..It's all his fault :bananasmi

Does anyone else have the bug?

Al,
It is a bug, it sounds like a serious case of "Fine Flu".  :2cents:

You are fine, seriously.

I hear what your saying too Alan, i am gathering parts to build a 472 out of a 440 for the Delivery and i stripped down my Hemi to take it out to a 572 because it is a Mega block, the old 426 internals just had to go, i will build it after the 472 cross rammed Wedge. :2thumbs: something anout tinkering and then hearing the roar that makes it all worth while :woo:

Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

You know it Al, and you have even helped me by sending a specialized oil pan and lift tube for my 440 build for the 71 Dart. However, as usual someting keeps slowing me down, and since retirement it just happens to be the extra $$$$ that overtime used to provide  :roflsmiley: And of course more supposededly improtant things  :roflsmiley: take the cash as well, my ole Scottish bloodlines (thanks gramps) won't permit me to put fun before needs.  :roflsmiley: But we will make it I hope, but building and firing up for the break in period out of open headers is 20 minutes of supreme Mopar bliss. Is that better than sex?...................NO, but a lot louder usually.  :smilielol:  :smilielol:

Well I got my block back this morning so I could pre install the pistons, rods and crank to check deck height.  As I was installing the crank, my 440 source rods were delivered by fed ex.  In a couple more hrs, it goes back to the shop for decking, line hone and finsh cylinder honing. I have the hone plate cam bearings and freeze plugs. They are also balancing the system for 175 bucks :2thumbs:

I have to be at the Hersheys plant in Virginia wednesday so it will all be on hold till I get back but ready for final wash down and assembly

theres something about taking a pile of parts and assembling them, perhaps machining if needed, fabbing, creating, raising something from nothing!

building the whole car and not crashing does it for me. :2thumbs:

im sorry, ill go now. hahaha

b.t.w. jason, theres a sweet dart on autabuy.com looks to be maybe what your seeking?
