Anyone ever spray paint seat belts?
« on: May 30, 2009 - 08:46:56 PM »
I just ran my belts through the dishwasher (yes, my wife wasn't home), and would like to treat the sun-bleached areas. I have tried dying them in the past, but it is a messy pain. Has anyone ever used any type of spray treatment on belts? They are black.

I used a very light misting of the Interior fabric paint on mine.  Haven't seen any traces left on me or passengers.

Mine were "blue" in spots from age, but now look uniformly black.

:iagree: you need a fabric dye Like SEM not a paint on seatbelts , paint would not be flexable

I believe I used the SEM spray dye. It worked really well as I recall.

I used a spray dye for carpets on mine that I got from a local auto detailer, but it's been a while and I can't remember the brand. It worked great on the seatbelts and the carpet.

If you wash the seat-belts does it make them more flexible, mine are really stiff compared to any newer belts? :clueless:

Duplicolor does make a fabric and vinyl paint/dye.   They used it on HorsePower TV a couple weeks ago. Looked ok, but depending on the project, I would probably use something more trusted like an SEM product until we get more feedback on how well the Duplicolor product does.

You can buy a complete set of repro seat belts from PG Classic for $375.  Might be a good option?
