    Boys and girls, this is why you don’t bondo over rust.


    The previous owner just bondo over the rust and didn’t apply in rust prohibitor or cut out the cancer.


    I also started working around the roof seam.

    rust can only form and progress when moisture is available to feed on.
    its a shame most folks dont take the time to stifle things before they get to bad.
    but then again, we wouldnt have the hack job post, or my work to view!! hahaha

    I do not care for bondo because it attracts and holds water which is very bad on metal.  Looks like you are doing a good job getting the rust out.  That is one reason I am changing out the sheet metal on my car.   :2thumbs:

    Looks like vinyl cancer on the top there.  Common problem with vinyl.  I had to put new metal around both front and back glass areas in my car as well.

    The quick paint jobs are always done by someone looking to move a car for a quick dime.  When a car is done correctly, it is never for money (Or in all my cases its not).  I could never sale my car and make money at this point.  Way too many hours involved....

    Most people thought I was crazy for working on a car they felt was better off in a junk yard.  Now, those same people try to buy the car.  Now I am the one laughing.  It still is not worth what I have in it though...  :roflsmiley:

    word of advice, invest in some jack stands before one or few cinder blocks give and kill someone :working:

    Yes please get some stands, I personaly saw a concrete block pop causing car to crash to the ground.
    The guy was under it alone just an hour before.

    The blocks were temporary when we were lowering the car down from the rotisserie.  My rotisserie does not have the jacks built in to raise and lower the car.  Thus, we needed to use the 4X4's and blocks to lower the car back down and add the suspension.  I also would not recommend working under a car with blocks.  Good point though...
