it would depend on the style of clutch used & the material used on the disc , some of the performance discs do not slip they just grab , it doesn`t sound like you have a diaphragm clutch if it is hard to depress the pedal ewhich tend to be very grabby near the top of the pedal travel , , if you have a metallic / feramic or ceramic disc they are not designed to slip , they just grab & go , you will probably have to replace the disc to get the feel you want
