I need some ideas and fixes - also what can I do and what is wrong???

I need some ideas and answers - What can I do and what is also wrong.

Here is a picture or pictures of my Challenger, NO, I didn't do the Gold Motiff on it, the previous owner did when he restored it in the late 70's early 80's.

My questions are....

Can the Gold (anodizing maybe) be removed from the metal items as in flip top and bezels?
Can chrome be removed from the items that are chromed as in hood scoops, glove box door, ash tray and I think headlight bezels and hood latch?
Also the owner did not like that this car was F8 paint and F8 interior so he bought another challenger with a black interior and swaped out every piece of interior item that was green, can you tell me if all pieces are correct for a 70 or are they a 71-74, and yes I am limited to only the one picture of the interior for now until I am back up on my feet?
The tail panel, did he try to copy the T/A look or is this wrong for all 70 Challenger R/T's?


Please critique it all you want, I am strong enough to hear all the wrongs on this car..... to a point 

I may not change the color because of the cost involved and I would rather drive it than look at it and be afraid to drive it.

And Yes it is an original U code 440ci and yes he put in a 360ci and when he did, he found out the radiator would not be correc so he had it reversed... yep, he had it reversed 

I think he liked it to be a T/A so he added the tail and chin spoilers and decided to change the hood nameplates from 440 to 340. I guess i may leave those on even though I am about to build a Hemi for it, I am unsre if the original hood will work with a Hemi and a Rat Roaster if I use that manifold.
And yes i know the rims and tires look like crap.

Anyways, please let me know what you see is wrong because i have no idea.....

anyone notice the strangest option anyone has ever seen on a challenger, look at the dash just above the aux gages, see that little lever, you betcha, my car has the 1 of 1 passenger side remote mirror on it...

I would drive it as is myself. 

I am working on a remote pass mirror for my T/A too.

from the pic most of the interior looks right , the right side mirror is obviously wrong , I cannot see the console to determine if it is right , , there are companies that rechrome pot metal such as the fuel cap but I bet it is cheaper to replace it . Steel is no issue to strip the chrome off & paint such as the hinges springs & hood latch plate .
 the hood will fit over the Rat roaster intake .
Headlight bezels were anodized alum , never chrome , just mask them off & repaint black , I used SEM trim black , it is very close to the original color  . The grille is incorrectly painted , the first 2 ribs around the diffuser center piece should be left anodized alum .
 I have seen some R/Ts with the black above the taillights on the rear but being a black car this is no issue , is that an SE trim panel painted gold or just the body painted gold above the taillights ?

A bit different, so it is. But since the car has been altered and you have plans to make more changes I wouldn't worry about it except what you like. Yeh, you'll get some flak but that I'm sure you are already expecting that. I too would drive it as is until you can make the changes you want, why let a good time sit idle in a garage waiting for some mods.? Now tell me, in the pic showing the hood from the passenger side...........is that a shotgun leaning up against the garage wall? You live in a tough neighborhood?

The gold chin spoilers are a little much but I like the rest of the car the way it is. And yes that does look like a ferile cat controler leaning against the wall.

That is not my garage, that pick is where I bought the car from and I never saw that against the wall, maybe it is, I don't know for sure, good eye.....

Flak I don't mind, the chrome and gold bling makes me think I need to put on a Leisure suit and gold chains.....
I guess i will leave it the way it is for now and keep moving forward wioth the new motor build but i need to paint the chin spoilers and change the rims and tires.

I like the paint ,the gold and wheels need to go .Its nice to see mopar hot rods instead of all the kookie kutter restores, i cant wait to see it finished .

Anodizing and chrome can both be stripped by most metal platers.Overall not a bad looking car as I like the old `70s and `80`s look.Since you are not going 100% original I agree that you should just fix the uglys that you don`t like and leave the rest for now.
