Anyone want a Dart for free? **GONE**
« on: May 31, 2009 - 11:39:36 PM »
I don't know a lot about this car except that not much is there, but I think it's saveable if it goes to the right body man. Unfortunately the front clip and bumpers have been discarded before I got to it. Yes, I said discarded, as in to the scrap man. It does have a dash with VIN and I believe a good title. I gotta verify that tomorrow. It needs a new roof. The guy that had it was gonna chop it and make a convertible. The glass is wrapped in eggcrate foam in the trunk. The quarters might be saveable with partials. The floors are toast as is the trunk and part of the firewall. It's a 74 I believe. Maybe one of you can tell by the body.

The front suspension and steering is still there. The interior shots turned out blurry so I didn't include them. It has seats, not sure if original. It has a steering wheel and column.

If you want it, you will have to bring wheels as I'm snagging the slots that are on it. I may also take the Tranny. I gotta find out what it is first.  It's located near Inwood, WV. Let me know or it is getting cut up soon and taken to the scrap man.

A member from the Charger Forum came and saved her. Thanks bud.

Very cool of you to offer it. :2thumbs: I actually got my Coronet for free from a friend. It's in almost the same condition as your Dart.

If its a '74 and a slant 6 I really doubt it, its probably an 8 1/4.

Would the power steering box work in an e-body? If so pull it off before it goes for scrap? Someone might need one? :dunno:

Power steering box should be the same, I think the pitman is different though.

Ok guys, I have bad news about this car. I talked to the guy who owned it (he gave it to me, he just hasn't gotten the title to me). The dash with VIN has already been taken to the scrap yard on Friday so its basically just good for a few parts or a bracket car if someone wants to build it up. It was a slant six car, so I think your right about the tranny and rear, most likely 8 1/4. If no one wants the car outright (tranny and rear included), I guess I'll yank the steering, trans, rear, glass, and seats. I really wish it could go to someone that could salvage it somehow. I might stop at the scrap yard and see if the needle in the haystack is retrievable.

Yeah its too bad how these things work out. I've got a '74 Dart I'm using for parts, it was a really clean CA car before it got plowed into in the back. The rear rails and quarters are bent in a serious way, with the right rear rail buckled right off the trunk floor. But if that other one weren't on the opposite end of the country you could probably make one good one out of them. I plan on putting the whole driveline and K member with LBP power disks into my '71, but that'll still leave me with the body and extra's. The later model A-body's really aren't worth a ton, just the frame and body parts to fix the one I've got would cost more than I spent on the car, and the frame work to straighten it alone would be more than it'd be worth restored.

I hate to see any old car scrapped but being a `74 /6 dart it really is only worth whatever parts you can salvage of it.  :2cents:

I am looking for decent lower 1/4s for my '75 if anyone has them? Just a thought. I would save that dart if it was closer. :walkaway:

The rear is most likely a little 7 3/4..
