Me thinks gm was great in the begining years ,but to attach America to a business is a stretch and a bad one .union members screw off all week and on friday get a memo from the front office that things are behind , so they work time and a half or better on the week ends to do the job they didnt do in the week . gm and mopar needs to go away ,im so bent that im paying for those losers taping into my familys hard earned cash i cant even see straight . so this is what im doing along with all my republican buddys ,we & I am going to drive our dodges and gm trucks till scrap out .and buy new tundras ,i will screw at least one lazy union worker out of his or her job buy spending my next 45k with a non union manufacture and if that means supporting a foreign interest so be it . :)

I hope it is as easy as they think it will be for GM.  I know things will look different after all of this is over with them and Chrysler.  Just hope it is better and not worse.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

GM will be fine.

Obama has run plenty of companies and made great profits.

Guess the Commies and Muslims were right all along.

Other than the suffering of the workers I have no sympathy for GM...they did it to themselves.

Too many cars. Ford is doing OK with 6 lines. A pontiac dealer was competing against a chev dealer. Dodge had good ideas, minivan, pt cruiser, viper, etc. Ford introduced the retro mustang and all gm did was react years later-too late. I still think this all starte with the gas prices of last summer.

Here's a thinking man!

Certainly the fallout from the Bush regime is going to crush the little man; heck that's already been the case for years.  But these are the times to look at the new opportunities that are opening up and to come away from these things with something positive.

Chrysler and GM stock prices are going to float around 50 cents for a while.  These "bankrupcies" are a period of restructuring to make a positive financial future for GM & Chrysler.

For the price of one of those lottery tickets, anyone can turn 50 cents into 10, 20 or 30 dollars, etc...

Now I'm not going to assume anyones available funds.  But look at it this way: buy $100 of 50 cent stock.  You only need to wait for it to reach $1.00 to get your money back and have the rest to sit on.  Let GM & Chrysler buy you a crate engine!

If we spend all our energies boo-hooing without working towards something positive, well then we have nothing to booo-hoo about...  :2cents:

They will probably issue "new" shares of GM stock with a different series number when the smoke clears which will make existing shares worthless.  Unless you just want to say you owned GM stock - I wouldn't put much of my retirement money into GM stock right now. :2cents:

I worked at Chrysler for about 8 years, its not the regular guys running machines or assembling that sit around and do nothing.  Its the ones that take care of the machines, skilled trades that sit around and thats because if there is nothing to work on, they have nothing to do.  I think its great that people that don't work in there think they know whats going on.  The part of the union that I didn't like was that when someone would get fired for missing to many days, or coming to work drunk, or selling drugs and get busted right in the middle of the plant, they would get called back with backpay.  That was the fall of the union and the big 3 in my opinion, they hired people  that didn't want to work and kept helping them out.

How about the thousands,if not millions of workers in dealerships, other plants that make products for cars and planty of other hardworking people who will lose jobs and be negatively affected if GM and Chrysler cease to exist?I will never own a foriegn car no matter what,it`s anti American!

If you don't believe that GM & Chrysler will be OK, look at the great job the government has done with Amtrack, the Post Office, our Social Security and now the banks.

Buck up, everything will be fine.
