Need Help Finding Part!
« on: June 02, 2009 - 07:19:58 PM »
I'm getting my front & rear brakes replaced after 24 years.  The work is being done by a friend who has owned & operated a small garage near my town.   He has been able to get all the parts he needs to do the job and has begun the work.   There is one part he can't find new or old and I'm no whiz on this stuff so I'm just going to post the pictures below and hope someone knows what they are & where I could find them.

They are from the front brakes on my 70 Cuda & they look like a type of clamp.  The clamps are on the end of a type of spindle that puts tension on the clamp and I believe it pushes against the brakes.   There are 2 for each side.   It's like one is a mirror of the other ( left & right )

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

The Napa master service kits have them. Well, at least they did the last time I bought a set.

Greatly appreciate the info. guys!   Do you know if there is a direct link to any of these sites that show the part ( anti-rattle clamp ) for purchase or has a part number, etc.
For some reason the spindle can be purchased new locally here, but not the clip.  We have been told the clip is not made anymore.

Keep the info. & links coming.
Again thanks for your valued time.

Cardone and Raybestos include the pins, but not the rattle clamp.  Is the clamp necessary?  I'm running without.

I think I have some of those from when I did my brakes last year (came with the pads).

I am not running them, should I be?

If not, I can send them to you if you want them.  I will have a look tonight and make sure they are the same.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Jas, if you think you have 2 or 4 of the clips that match the picture then I would be interrested in them.   If you find them and they match then PM me and we can work something out.   I have a PayPal account and could send you payment for the clips & shipping.   If you also have an account with PayPal that would work the best.

Thanks!

Just wanted to say "THANKS" to Jason for sending me the 4 rattle clips for the front brakes on my car.
He did not charge me anything for the parts or shipping so maybe this should be posted under some kind of "Good Guy of the Week!" post.
Again another example of great people on this forum.

P.S.   I'm getting this work done at a local old time auto shop and want to post a few pictures.   I remember seeing a post about old time garages but can't seem to find the link.   If anyone can point me in the right direction to the link I'd greatly appreciate it.
