Pt Cruisers
« on: June 04, 2009 - 12:17:42 PM »
We're looking to get my son a Pt for daily use, and from what I've gotten back from 'us' on site as they seem pretty reliable. Trying to find a 2001 with low miles(under 100,000 km) but at what point over say 120,000 do they start to be a constant maintenance problem? besides the usual tires, brakes, etc.....thx....dk

Generally they're reliable.  Just a PITA to change the timing belt/alternator/WP.  Do it all at once.

My wife has a 2001 that both she and I enjoy. It's her daily driver and I like the smooth ride. Other than getting everything fixed all at once I'm not aware of too many issues except maybe the multifunction switch going bad allowing the fog lights to stay on and drain the battery. Overall, it's been a great car. Whenever I have problems, questions, etc. I go here: http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/ There are some very helpful and knowledgeable folks there. I hope that helps.
