firm feel steering box adjustment

i just installed  one of these and when i start the car the wheels spin to the drivers side. how do you adjust this?

did you make sure it was in the center before installing...... left to righ wheel lock centering i mean

i found out my problem, i need to centre the spool valve.

Yes just loosen the bolts & tap the housing up or down a small amount

mine was pulling all the way to the right as soon as you start the car.

after adjusting with a good tap, it now will stay centred, but at the SLIGHTEST steering input either way, it will pull completely to the direction I start turning

nice and light tho !

does anyone suggest anything further ?

Sounds like the spool valve is binding... I think you need to pull the valve body off the box, pull it apart, & polish the valve....

whitewater, that is not functioning correctly, I have a stage 2 FF box and its not light, nor does it want to go in any direction, i have to turn the wheel which I believe is what it should be like.

I have stage 3 and it's the same as above. I'd contact FF  and see what they suggest.

Its likely the valve body on top of the ps box that is not centered properly... I've learned in the past...   Lift the car (at least the front end), remove the wheels so there is as little weighted resistance in the steering as possible (or else, better yet, you could disconnect the pitman arm from the crosslink arm, thereby, truly eliminating resistance)... then, with the engine running, you adjust the valve body back/forth until it has become as near perfect as possible without its automated self turning.   The key is to lift the car and remove all resistance, then adjust.   You'll probably lose some fluid, so have a catch pan underneath.

Hey Mitch, thanks for that. Just curious why the removal of resistance will work as opposed to doing with the wheels on the ground.

I'd imagine taking the load of the front tires would enable the setting of the valve body to be perfect, a little resistance might have you setting up what seems good but is slightly off.

WW - as stated just before.. to remove as much friction/resistance as possible... this is fine-tuning.. and critical.. There may be some other way to do this adjustment on a work bench if it would be rebuilt... I'm certain "Steer and Gear", as well as "Firm Feel" would know.. you might want to contact them (both.. to see if they'd give the same answer).   Do you live closer to one vs the other?  S/G is in Colombus, OH.... FF is in Oregon or Washington out west.
