MAS Racing Products going out of business.
« on: June 07, 2009 - 04:56:58 AM »
Late April/early May I ordered a Barracuda front spoiler from MAS over the phone.  Checked my credit card statement the other day and the purchase hadn't been debited from my card.  Worried that the part was now not going to arrive in time to be fitted for an upcoming show, I gave them a call and was advised that the business owner was in trouble and that they were probably going to close, and as such my order hadn't been processed.

They advised that a company called 'Mikies Glass' could be taking over the fibreglass side of the business but the number I was given had been diconnected.  Anyone know anymore about this?  I was really keen to get one of the spoilers for the front of my Barracuda and it looks like I might have missed out.  Anyone live close to the business and can provide more detail?  While they might not be prepared to ship a spoiler to Australia, they might sell one locally to someone that I could buy it off???

Consider yourself lucky, MAS was known for providing some of the worst overpriced glass parts out there.  I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did.

What were you looking for, got a pic?  I'm sure you can get it elsewhere, and much better quality.

This was the spoiler I was after - got the pics off this board and generally people seemed to be happy with them.  There was another guy making more racing-style spoilers but wouldn't really suit my Barracuda.

I've heard a lot of bad things about MAS, but honestly, I wanted one of those spoilers!  :crying: I haven't seen another similar to it available. Looks like I really might have to make my own now!

I'd post a question on Moparts.com

I'm sure someone will know where to find one.

Unfortunately I bought 1 of the T/A rear spoilers they advertise.  It was a hollow shell, no way what so ever to mount it.

What did you buy, I've never heard anyone say they were happy with any glass parts from MAS?

I bought a rear spoiler for my Duster from them Kinda of an T/A style not a pedestal. I sold it on Ebay and dozen people wanting to know where to get one. It fit good. Best part was it cost $45.00 and on Ebag it went for $185.00

I have the front spoiler, happy with the way it looks, and it was cheap, but it wraped after one day in the sun. Would love a Carbon Fiber version..

I have one of those front spoilers that I had on my challenger. I mounted it so that the chin started at the valance opening then the sides were mounted behind the turn signals. It puts it at a good angle and doesn't hang down so low.  I also bought on of those hollow shell spoilers too for a Duster. It was hollow because those are "bond-on" type spoilers. You don't get a good T/A style spoiler for $40.

Do you still have it? and would you like to part with it?  I'm interested if you do.

That is a longer one that will scrape driveways and speed bumps.

Do you still have it? and would you like to part with it?

I still want to keep it in case I use it someday, just like the cheap aluminum rear window louvers that I had on the back.

Here is a picture of mine from 1985. I made a chrome tube grill for it and some tinted headlight covers. I later put a white dual pinstripe around the edge of the spoiler to make it stand out more as it was really hard to see.
