    I sure wish I knew Don. I am worrying that they will quit building them before I can buy one. I do know the new Charger(if they release it) is one bad looking sedan. I sure hope the economy comes out of the crapper and that Chrysler makes it out of the crisis as Chrysler and not Obamfiatsler.

    I was talking to a Mopar dealer yesterday and he said they just got word that Chally production would be starting up again on the 22nd.  He seemed sure. 

    They are made in Canada and the plant isn't scheduled for closure or anything, and the Canadian government has thrown billions of Canuck Bucks into Chrysler Canada, so it will probably keep in production.

    On another note, now is the time to but a pickup.  For $29,700 I can buy a brand new 2009 Ram 1500 4X4 quad cab with the 5.7 Hemi.  If I recall correctly, those were over $40,000 just a few months ago at the same dealership.  They are nice looking trucks too, not some orphan unsellable ugly truck! 

    Now, If I can only convince my wife we really, really need one....... :nono:

    NO worrys at this point , my contact is telling me they are shut down til the end of the month [June] & everything is back on
     Basically Chrysler is just restructuring & the bankruptcy was forced by creditors unwilling to negotiate payments , Befoe Merc merged Chrysler had a good business plan / structure , if they return to that thay will do well !

    Challengers are back in production and a hot seller at the moment.  Nobody knows what will happen when CAFE quotas kick in  :villagers:

    THe 2010 Challengers go into production the middle of August (the 17th I believe). The Challenger won't be going away. All Chrysler has to do to meat the CAFE standards is introduce a few new econo-boxs that will bring the companies fleet average aove the 25 mpg, then they can continue to make the gas guzzling hi po cars. I do see in the future the hemi becoming more fuel efficient to help with the CAFE standards.

    I firmley believe that many v8 engines can easily reach 40-50 mpg.

    I wonder what my R/T would get if not equipped with a 3.91 rear gear?

    I believe that there is no reason a V8 truck can't get more than 100 mpg, and small econo boxs get close to 500 mpg. I've said it before and I'll say it again the world record for fuel economy is more than 12,000 mpg in a single person single cylinder engine powered vehicle.

    The auto companies have sat on technology for massively extending fuel mileage for decades from what I have always heard.

    Guys thanks for the info!  I was concerned that the new Challenger production would be off.  I hope to be able to affored one in a couple of years. 

    I too have heard that automotive companies have sat on fuel efficent upgrades / tech for decades.  I first heard this when I was 12ish and got into cars, so I can image the tall tale has gotten taller.

    SRT is still alive and well.  You'll be able to buy a Plum Crazy SRT-8 Challenger this winter.
