I was told this has a original 360 engine, it has the 360/4 barrel breather but has a holley 2 barrel carb.  where would I find the numbers on the engine, thanks

Look for a raised pad on the passenger side of the engine. It is about the middle (front to back) slightly above the oil pan rail.

The transmission number is on the passenger side also, on the bell for automatics & on the case for 4-speeds. You may as well take a look for it while you are under there.  ;)

Best of luck, & welcome to the site.

This;

 6dn3 24 73    is the casting date.

This;

4006830  360 5

is the casting number. The 360 means 360 CID, so far so good.

The VIN numbers are stamped in, much smaller than the cast numbers. Take another look where I mentioned.

Well, based on your post title;

"vin bs23l4b207275 " the u is likely a 0 & your trans is a match.

I have no clue what the 9a4880 could be, are you looking in the right spot?

Try & get clear close up photos of both VIN pads if you can just to be sure.
