Door handle help needed
« on: June 07, 2009 - 09:09:13 PM »
I was at a show in Mt, Clemens Michigan Saturday and when I went to open my door the handle broke off in my hand.  So I went on EBAY and bought a used pair of handles without the keys, so my options seem to be....
- locksmith new keys and carry 3 keys for ever
- swap out the locks from old to new (don't even know if it's possible)
- swap out a lever on the broken one (don't know if this is possible either)

So, got any advice? ? ?? ?

I have pulled out the pivot pin & swapped handles as well if the housing is in better condition & worth saving

Actually, mine were pitted a little bit and I got two used oem (non-repros) for 9,99 plus 10 shipping.  There was a guy selling repops for $149 so I'm hoping that these are in good shape and that I got a good deal.  There was no pitting visible in his photos, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

the driverside doorhandle on mine was broken when I got the car. I took it apart and TIG-pooped it back together. That stuff welds like crap but it`s still holding up.  Don`t trust it either...

I was driving up Cass on Saturday and turned before Broadway.  Which I knew some members were going to be there, I would have stopped.

The previous owner's girlfriend broke my passenger door handle. He had is uncle make a new one in a machine shop, but I would like to replace it with an original.  :ebay:

We got there late, around 6pm and then it got pretty cold and I didn't have a jacket to we left at about 8:30.  Lots of nice cars, lots of nice mopars.  We should post events some how so that some of us could meet up.
