unless the battery is bad there is no reason why it should not fire when jumpered straight to the battery , you could clean you bulkhead connector to make sure you are getting 12 v to the dist but again jumping to the battery will eliminate that & it still won`t start

That's why needs to get a meter and take some readings.  It works fine out of the vehicle, so something must be going on.  The electronics on any device need a minimum voltage to operate.

 :iagree:

I never got it to work, but I thank everyone for helping. It came down to, do I want to spend more money fixing this or just go back to Mopar parts. I went with what was true to the car and gave up on the HEI.
Your help was everything I needed threw out this process and aided me in not opening a vain, and for that I thank you. fact was some of you had it right. Why use a GM part in a Mopar.   :screwy:

I get the rebuild electric dist. back tomarrow and will install. It is more about keeping the car on the road then being stuborn and not realizing when you are beat.

THANK YOU AGAIN!!  :worshippy :worshippy

UPDATE
« Reply #53 on: June 17, 2009 - 11:05:31 AM »
Went to Napa and got a stock electronic dist. and put it back in on last night. Within 20 min. The car was back up and running. This tells me that if you think using GM parts on a mopar is a good idea, Don't!  :eek4:

I still have a little idle miss that I think is coming from a bad mix in the carb but it ran great to work.  :2thumbs:

Thank you again everyone.   :clapping: :worshippy :clapping:
