My Son's New Toy!!

My mom's husband came over last night and gave my son (who just turned 12 on saturday) the keys to his 1977 pontiac grand prix.  So i guess it's not entirely new but new to my son. He was stoked and I must say I have never seen him so overwhelmed! It will be hard to wrench on something other than my mopars but for my boy.....I will! Pics to come, we are going out to the farm on the weekend to do some repairs and get some pics of his new ride!

I guess that 1200 dollars he has in account will dry up pretty quick, he already looking at mags for it.

That is so awesome. Nothing like a father son project. It's what more kids in our country need. Maybe there would be less gang bangers & violent teenage crime!! Looking forward to the pictures!!

That's awesome!   My Father gave me my first vehicle at 11-12, so I can relate...Granted, it was just a very rusty, non-running '61 Studebaker Champion pickup, but I had it running around in no time after hitting up the local CarQuest store for a bunch of parts.

I saw one on craigslist not too long ago with the T-roof option.  Was sweet!

I like those cars and the LeMans version, similar car, IMO.  The cream of the crop though is the Can Am.

You might be able to find a Trans Am shaker hood scoop and graft it on that car for a custom look, since he's looking at mags already.  I would think it is doable. 

I had a '74 Pontiac Bonneville and put a shaker scoop on it from an '81 Trans Am.  The shaker scoop fit right over the factory airfilter housing.  I just had to find a slightly smaller airfilter and top to take advantage of the fresh air intake.  Careful measurements, a jigsaw, and a little time made for a nice "WAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" at wide open throttle. 

Below is a Can Am, not my car, but you can see the shaker set up.

Well here she is! My son could hardly believe his eyes! The interior is like the day it came from the factory with no a tear in it! We checked it over and gave it a boost and away she went. Sounds like a exhaust manifold leak but that about all that wrong with it. If he plays his cards right he will have a decent cruzer by the time he gets his license..
As for the scoop that looks great and might be the way to go, looks sharp!
