Scored this off Kijiji last night for less that half what the store wanted. Brand new in the box , just assembled it.. Should come in handy for the fender mods. I've already been warned about thumbs and fingers.
Just what I needed.... more stuff in my garage!  :icon16:

Sure fire away, I'm always learning!  :2thumbs:

My plan was to cut out the wheel well area where the stock molding goes on. Space it out the required amount then build up to it, then cut out what's behind that I don't need?

Hey Brad,

This is how i would start with cutting the fender.

Every cut should be parallel to the fender main side body line that runs horizontal, mark a cut line using a chalk line and then use a length of masking tape to show the horizontal straight line and this will be the guide line for cutting that is positioned half way from the body line to the top part of the fender beauty line, then using a square i would line up where the lower body line front and rear of where the arch of the fender beauty line turns and follows the bottom portion of the fender, this should be where you stop and start your cutting. The fender will flex outwards enough if you cut it in this way to allow you a square straight section to work from, easiest way i know how.
Using 2 support rods, space out the fender cut area to allow the proper width to what you need for clearance, all of these modifications should be done while the fender is still mounted to the car to get proper shape and pattern making.

Their is a next stage after you get to this point, let me know you understand what i have written as a guide buddy :2thumbs:

I understand what your saying . Great pictures!  :2thumbs: But right now the fender lip is sitting on the tire. . My thoughts are when the lip goes out the required amount it also needs to go up. I REALLY want to reuse the stock wheel well molding too.
Also another detail that needs to be factored in is the front bottom portion of the wheel well lip needs to be moved to clear the tire when the wheel is turned. I figure a pie section starting at the bottom about 3/4" tapering up to nothing at the body line. I'm hoping the molding will bend to accommodate this? Might have to slit the trim to bend it?

Hey Brad,

The reason i have drawn the slicing like i have is so you can still use the wheel arch molding and not have to modify it at all buddy. You will get enough flex out of the fender to clear the tyre when you peel it over leaving it fully attached on  the bottom section, simply put the car up on a jack and peel the cut section to clear the tyre when you let the jack down, this will give you the correct clearance you will need from fender to tyre, just adjust it accordingly from their.
Get you fender to this stage and i can tell you what the next step is if you like. :2thumbs:

Cool car, love the quality of the build. Not a fan of the Chevy engine,( or the fender flairs) but other than that ..... things you can do when money is not a factor huh?  :)  It has most of a Challenger body and interior but that's about where it stops being a Mopar?  :-\
