Boy did I have a fun day today!
Radio was tuned into a station that plays older classic rock that was made when our cars were new, kinda put me in the mood! And it was a beautiful sunny day here for a change ( no rain!) I had been dreading doing the exhaust as that's not my favourite job!
Anyway, I installed the Magnaflow exhaust ,almost done. Tig welding in shorts and sandals grooving to the tunes! My opinion about the system is that it is pretty good! I had to "cut and paste" a bit as the one pipe didn't line up with the header very well.I have headmans as I posted earlier so they have a "ball socket" type mounting flange. That was handy, I didn't need to be dead nuts straight on the header. It mounted up straight to the drive-shaft and it installed pretty symmetrical,, except for the section that goes from the cross over pipe to the headers. Luckly I had a mandrel bent elbow left over from another exhaust project to use, but the engines in our cars are mounted over to passenger side I assume for clearance around the steering box. The Magnaflow system is all stainless( magnet doesn't stick!). I did have to drill the floor section to mount the muffler hangers, so people with numbers matching cars would have to do something else to mount the mufflers. I haven't finished mounting the tail pipes to a hanger yet I'll utilize the stock holes in the trunk for hangers though. More fab work out of stainless.
I can't wait to hear it run! Soon I hope!
