There's going to be no template needed since nothing will be stitched.  I'm will be making sort of brush insert were there is that design at the top of the panel that goes to the back door panel. It will be covered in the same material as the dash.

Justin, are you going to add any padding under the vinyl?  I was thinking some 1/8" closed cell foam on mine for a better texture...

Can you tell us what vinyl and glue your using and where you get it?

Great job on this  :2thumbs:

No there will be no padding under the vinyl i have tried it once but it didn't look right.  For glue Im using DAP Weldwood contact cement makes sure its in a red can also be carefull cause once its down its down for good. I ordered black vinyl from Specialized stainless. He makes kits for the 4th gen fbodys.

Something i wont everyones opinion on the inset thing that circle in red in the pick im going to make like an insert copy of it in fiberglass that will be painted. what i want to know is i was thinking about painting it a charcoal/gunmetal color but then i also thought about doing it the body color. What does everying think? Where the metal woodgrain piece goes originally will actually also be covered in the vinyl material.

I wouldn't cover the metal plate on the door with vinyl.  Its got the logo on it, I'd just put it back on over the vinyl.  If you wanted to replace the woodgrain with something else then go for it.  Carbon fiber, paint, gold leaf...etc.

Not sure what you mean about a insert along the red line....  the groove is filled now right?  so what will the insert be inserted into?

I'm really anxious to see how it turns out.

I wouldn`t paint bodycolor.  Makes it look too much toy-car IMO.   would look cool to have a piece of aluminum anodized dark grey in there...  :naughty:

So i went ahead a made a one insert that i was talking about for the door. The fiberglass piece i made is what i wanted opinions on what color to paint it.  Of course it will be completely smooth before painting. so now that i have an example should i paint it a charcoal color or the body color (dark purple metallic color)?
