Muffler questions

I am toying with the idea of replacing my muflers.

I have some cheap genaric turbos on there now.  The car is kinda loud (not that I mind that much), but I would like to quiet it down some, at least at idle.

Any suggestion on decent mufflers that won't cost me and arm and a leg.

This is like asking what color should I paint my car...

It's all a matter of taste. I drive on the Hiway, so something loud would give me migraines.   

I was told I had Flowmasters on my car from the previous owner, but I know that isn't the case because they sound nothing like some of the people here who do have Flowmasters. There are other options out there for sure. You might want to go to a cruise-in and ask someone what they are using if you like the sound of their car.

I've got a set of stock (reproduction no doubt) mufflers that were on my car. This was all my car had on it, no resonators, and it was pretty quiet. You could still hear it and tell it was a V8, but pretty mild sounding. I replaced them with a set of 2 1/2" Summit glasspacks as I like my cars loud  .

Anyway, I'd part with them for $50 + shipping. YearOne sells them for $129 EACH!  .  They'll come without the over the axle pipes, but with the hangars, if you're interested. They're the stock 2 1/4" inlet, 2" outlet set up. Ditch the turndowns and get some nice stock rear exit tips and they'll be awesome!

I even asked about the ones I didn't like the sound of to make sure I didn't get them.  Some company's have sound clips on their web sites which help a little.  I have Flowmaster 40's and the sound level is about where I wanted it to be.  I didn't want something so loud that you couldn't listen to tunes or had to yell at the person beside you when you're cruisin'.  I'm not totally happy with them though because to me they have a bit of a hollow sound to them (it's kinda hard to describe).  I have a mopar performance catback system on my 06 Charger Daytona and prefer that sound.  It seems a little richer.

Everyone has their own preferences...hope you can find the sound that's right for you
