Whining about aftermarket radiators
« on: June 13, 2009 - 07:18:53 PM »
So I bought an aluminum radiator from Mancini Racing. As you can see in the first picture, the radiator sits up against the head of a bolt at the bottom of the radiator opening. This means the radiator flanges won't fit flat against the frame, and I worry that the bolt head will wear a hole into the soft aluminum.

I trotted out the old radiator, and sure enough, the radiator flanges stick about 1/4 inch further out, giving adequate clearance for that bolt. The new radiator is also missing the clips for the overflow tube and the mounting points for the shroud. No wonder the shroud I also bought from M.R. won't fit on, either.

I'll go get some 1/4" aluminum strap and make a shim. But darn it, do these aftermarket parts makers even try to fit their parts on?
