Please, please, please don't lock this thread.  It hasn't even started to get good yet.  Let me help:

1.  Even though I've been in office 6 mo. and spent more than all the previous administrations COMBINED,  it's all Bush's fault.  I inherited this.

2.  No matter what the "crisis",  we need to pass the socialist legislation now, don't read it or think about it.

3.  Joe Biden 'Everyone Guessed Wrong' on Unemployment Numbers.  Joe, we need someone in there who isn't "guessing".

4.  I don't know about the rest of you, but I love the way our head honcho is out there running the US down to all our enemies.  For God's sake, don't stand up for the country you represent.

5.  One of my favorites is Gitmo.  What we really need is a place to put all the terrorists while the war is being fought.  You know one that is a maximum security facility, little chance of escape and if they do escape, they won't put Americans at risk.  Know of anywhere ?  Hint, hint, there's one in Cuba.

There's plenty out there, c'mon add to the list.

Even though there were some things in this article I didn't like to hear, I thought it probably is the best summary of where we are at.  Doesn't make me feel too confident.

Just out on Yahoo:

President Barack Obama asked skeptical doctors Monday to get behind an overhaul of the nation's health care system, declaring it a "ticking time bomb" for the budget that could force America to "go the way of GM."

Who'da thunk it ?

 :iagree: this should be locked, nothing positive ever comes from stuff like this, feelings do get hurt.

We all have our own opinions and have that right to, however politics usually are a sore subject at almost all forums, jobs, family & friends and cause people to get upset with each other.

Well, I think a lot of good can come from this, and I applaud go-fish for starting it.

Every man is right in his own eyes. But most sensible people want to know what is right, and do it. In that regard, we all need to be challenged to be able to explain what we believe and why we believe it. There will always be those who mindlessly spout opinions but haven't really done their homework on the rationale behind their stance. You can tell them from the thoughtful people.

There have been posts on all kinds of topics here that are real life- marriage, illness, losing friends, growing old- this is the stuff of life. The sheet metal is fluff. Most of the people on this forum are not here just looking for information. Sure, some topics are divisive. The challenge is to state well-thought positions in a minimally offensive manner. Be prepared to be challenged and learn to defend yourself without being offensive. Most of us are flat wrong about a lot of what we believe. Maybe most of what we believe.

I prefer and stick to what comes out of the horses mouth when it comes to Politics and leave the spin and re-writing of history to others. It's pretty hard to dispute something documented by Legislation introduced and passed by a specific political party, a Veto of important legislation that passed Congress that affects things negatively years later or Defense of the indefenseable that's documented on film.  :grinyes:

Better to speak up and be heard, be it popular or not. In our town, the local Sewer Commission has decided it is for the betterment of the community to install sewers in an area of town that does not need them and to ignore a section of town that does need them.  Our household is being impacted by this decision, a $21 million bond to be paid 100% by 600 residents in a town of over 10,000. Did we accept that decision... no .... the residents spoke up. :villagers: Is the Sewer Project stopped, not yet, is it being re-evaluated, yes. Just because you vote a certain way, projects may change as seen fit by the Powers To Be.  Always beware of "For the Betterment of the Whole".

I'm deeply concerned by all this tough Cowboy diplomacy talk about N Korea. We've all heard about how some despot Dictator with a few bombs is a "Grave danger" before, now haven't we? Hmmmm.... :eek7:

Thanks Pride. I am glad that nobody has gotten so heated that they have gotten this locked so far. I even changed the title to be more kind. I realized I wanted people to see this with an open mind instead of alienating right off the bat.

A wise man is one who can entertain an idea without automaticaly embracing it. (or something like that)

I just heard on the news gas prices have risen 49 days in a row. Sorry if I'm not really feeling better off than I was in November.  :pullinghair:

Yeah, the gas prices have gone up steadily, we are flirting with 3 dollar a gallon gas again. We need to get that idiot Bush outta there so he cannot fix the prices any longer. Oh.......he's gone?........    Cheney is gone?.........   :clueless:

i think it's always more a problem with the 550 players on the field than who is coaching the game.if they would do the job they were elected to do,it wouldn't matter what the presidents(any and all of them) liked or disliked.maybe then all these problems past,present and future wouldn't exist.just my take on the whole pile. :poopoke:

I have been a bystander in this thread reading every post and hearing both sides. I can tell you this, from my own opinion on what is going on that all 3 parties have been at fault, and you ask, What is the 3rd party, THE CONGRESS.......
They are the biggest crock or crooks there ever was. If you really believe that GW had everything to do with what is going on and didn't change it for the better, you are not versed in politics very well. GW has his faults and has caused some of the problems but Bill C was a master in disguise, he not only left the US vulnerable for the 911 attacks by letting number 1 evil go when he had him in his hands, he also started to push NAFTA which buried the nation. All I can say at this time is I am glad I did not vote for this administration because he will end up going down in history as the worst there ever was. You may not believe it today but I would like to revisit this question in 4-8 years. And lastly, the congress, they are the butt keepers, they will run amuck for the next 4 yrs or as long as there is a Dem in the office because they have NO ONE that will keep them in check. That is why Oba-ma has an open checkbook to do what he wants and will get anything passed through congress that he wants and our children and grand children will pay for it. When GW was in office his hands were tied for the last couple of years, he could not change anything; he was over ruled most of the time. I do believe GW was overwelmed with the office and war that he did make some serious maistakes.

My end soapbox speech: All I have to say is, I am almost 60yrs old, I lived thru the Nam war and all the wars since then and this was the first President that has talked down this great nation to our enemy nations and I believe that they have seen this as a weak moment in the US history of administrations. I can only hope "O" has the balls that GW had, because I do not have a good feeling about N Korea and Iran and China. The wars in the past have all been on foreign soil but the next one will either be a quick war or it will be on our soil and you me and our kids will be fighting for our lives. The US powerhouse has slowly started the decline in spremacy and it will be a matter of time when we will be vulnerable or slim pickens......

this is was my opinion,

No doubt each of us on our own are not going to have an impact but when enough of us get on the same song sheet things will begin to change... I for one intend to be at the local tea party this July 4....Seems like a well intentioned grass roots non-partisan group...Here's a link to find if your town will be hosting one.   http://www.teapartyday.com/

Both sides?

It has been mentioned a couple of times in the thread. (I have not counted, just going from memory)

We are all on the SAME side though.  :wave:

I just had to toss that out there, think about it for a moment or 20.  ;)

Our founding fathers saw to it that we had the right to free speech - whether it was in agreement with the current leaders or not. Others fought to keep that freedom for us when it was in jeopordy.

Personally, I think Sarah Palin is the political equal to Paris Hilton, Sarah has become a media hound & it is sad.

No, I will NOT apologize to Paris for dragging her down to Sarah's level.  :smilielol:

Thanks to our founding fathers, & all who have fought to keep America free so I could say that.  :wavingflag:

That said, agree to disagree as you will, but WE ARE all on the SAME side. Our elected officials seem to have forgotten that, it does not mean that WE should, or will forget it.  :thumbsup:

Barry

Edits below;

Notice the "We", not us & them as the opening line of the Constituition;

"We the people of the United States,"

From "The Liberty Song " published in 1768;

"By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall"

It was not about you or me then, it was about us, all of us. It still is.  :wavingflag:
