    Anyone heard of chaining an engine down?

    Chaining a 440-6 to the K-member to help prevent breaking mounts? Seems to make sense, but I've never heard of it before.

    I've seen several iterations, although the most common is a turnbuckle from the K-Frame toand ear on the motor.

    My small block is chained down. I kept breaking mounts, even with a small block.

    I guess it depends on the type of mount on that left side, but how much slack do you think should be allowed before there aint no mo :bigsmile:

    NO NOISE at all... it makes the whole car shake like a pro stocker  :cooldancing: the engine is locked down......  :working:

    that flatbar setup looks good. would there be any concern on that much torque on the head?

    Not really....

    First it's only a street car and second maybe 350 hp. (that ain't no power).

    I would be more concerned with the pair of steel engine mounts with the torque pulling on the cylinder....

    If you have a high horsepower car with big tires I would make a motor plate....

    Do you have a stick or automatic?
    I think you would be ok with it. If you do one like mine I would put a Heli-coil in the head where it bolts to.
    There are many ways of doing it and make it look good.
    If you want to go with a steel mount, put it on the passenger side only and the strap on the driver side..

    i'm an auto with transbrake.
    i broke a motor mount last weekend so i need to do something, that flatbar looks like it belongs there, not like a chain or turnbuckle.  :2thumbs:
