So heres some background on the car:
My dad purchased the car roughly 22 years ago for a whopping $400.00 from a house just down the road. It was without it's original 383, and grill but that's it.My dad, being a apprentice mechanic installed a 440, new rearend, and brakes. once it ran again it was driven for a year, rain or shine. After that year he decided to fix the body. the whole exterior was stripped of it's silver spraybomb paint job applied after a quick sand with 100 grit
. He continued to repair her up to the stage where she is now.
oddly, funds for the car dried up after my sister came 20 years ago.
Anyways, she was wrapped up in tarps and put away for the time when it was feasible.
fast forward to 2008: the car continued to sit in her spot unchanged while life all around her was in a whirlwind. Feb 25 2008, i find out my parents were splitting up, two days before my 16th birthday. Months later my dad has moved out and he takes his one car (65 pontiac Parrisienne) leaving the cuda sitting there in her blue glory (tarp). i had always been interested in the car from slight memories of my dad driving it which included him taking her out, getting her started, and lighting up the tires, then putting her back. so one day i got the courage to take a peek under the tarp which i was never allowed to touch and from that point on my life was changed.
A couple more months passed of me looking at her, sitting in her and dreaming of owning it, then i found this site. i posted in the newbie section some pics of the car and remember hemiken being the first to reply. After that multiple people began commenting on the car and really felt at home. I continued to learn things and collect parts for the car (whatever i could afford) up until two weeks ago. Was at my graduation banquet, when my dad and mom gave me a card. I thought "cool, some more money to put into the car ". I opened it and a recognizable plymouth key fell out.
it was the keys to the cuda.
I have now started on the car by pulling it out of it's tomb, and letting her see light again.
