Came across any rust issues?   looks like a nice solid project.  Good luck with her  :woo:
only spots that were bad on it were obviously the trunk pan and the hood hinge mount. It still actually has it's original trunk pan but it  could look better.
My plan of attack was to fix the engine bay and stuff, get it into primer then attack the interior. too bad a find some spots that are just out of my league right now. need to get a welder and some more experience before i attack those spots. Don't think the old stick welder will do :grinno:
Did start to get the paint stripped and was looking great on the pass. side but found some nasty stuff on the other side so thought i should hold off. also found out the car was hit in the front as you can see by the terrible patching.

thanks for all the great comments they really help keep me motivated

since the front end got put on the back burner for now i moved to the easier job of the floors. i pulled all the interior which is more yellow than white and was pleasently suprised by what i found. only two spots with actual Rust, under the pedals and  where a battery was stuck in the back. already picked up some rust bullet to do the floor, wondering if you guys have any advice on this stuff. and the old seam sealer stuff is coming off so what should i do? just paint it or remove all of it and put new sealer on. you can also see the dollar sign left on the fender from the factory.
Thanks!

oddly, funds for the car dried up after my sister came 20 years ago. :clueless: :lol2: Anyways, she was wrapped up in tarps and put away for the time when it was feasible.

Great car and story (except the part about wrapping up you sister in a tarp and putting her away due to lack of funds).  Enjoy the restoration journey.

so had a great day and terrible day at the same time. i got the rest of the interior out, clean all the rust off the floor, prepped all the spots i wanted to spray the rust bullet, all in an after noon. then i made a mistake. Iwas was getting ready to paint the car floors outside since it was dead calm, 25 celcius and perfect, then it starts raining. so i think fine i'll just do it in the garage as i have good ventilation.MISTAKE. so i start priming and it's laying down really nice and then as i turn around, the airline over my shoulder falls off and knocks the entire quart of rust bullet on the floor :scared: :stomp: now i have a rust proof, giant silver circle in the middle of my floor. :swear: so i just threw out $75.00 of paint, only got half of my 1st coat done and that was the last bit of money i had saved to put into the car so i won't be able to afford more. :banghead: I can't keep making these mistakes because it's really hard for me to get money for this project as i'm only 17 and don't have a job because of hockey .and to top it all of i got the primer on my hands cleaning up and now i look like i have aluminum hands and the label say it only will last for a week!!!! :faint:

thanks for letting me vent :)

Have been making good progress :working:. finished painting the floor and hood with rust bullet, applied seam sealer and body plugs, refurbished and re installed shifter, belts, heater box etc. now just waiting for  :money: to get a carpet. also pulled out the original fenders and they're pretty rough... what do you guys think? are they fixable?

PS sorry bout the terrible quality pics. all i've got is my phone :-[

Nice work C-C... If that is rust in the fender around the headlamp area you might be better off seeking replacements..  Do you have a welder?  Anything is possible the impossible just takes longer.

well I've continued to chip away at her. :working: Have my Carpet enroute from dave at roseville, have cleaned and rehydrated the orignal dash pad, painted all metal interior trim, cleaned headliner, fixed almost all electrical gremlins except for the radio which was cut out and the plug tossed :swear:, cleaned and repaired the rear defrost and package tray. Also repainted the lower half of the dash and column, also fixed the signal mechanism and the clunking column problem thanks to CP.
And the best of all Igot her running again! :woo: Started up on second pull and idles nicely. Not bad for 15 year old gas and fluids :grinno: It was the first e body i've ever driven and even though it was just around the block my adrenaline was pumping after. now i really know why everyone loves them. Just cant stop grinning

Question: what should i use to patch a corner of the dash pad where a little bit of the plastic has fallen off and its foam left. its only 1/8" by 1/2"?

Pics soon :picture:

Hey Goeff
what a great project.... Great story too except for your parents splitting up & wrapping up your sister in the blue tarp !!  Don`t be in a hurry to get it all done it will come in time just keep lugging away on it & it will come together , there is a vinyl patch that will fix the dash , you will neeed to contact a vinyl repeir to see what works best though .
HAve fun with the resto & we will help you out  :2thumbs:

here some pics. forgot to mention also got the doors and jams all primed, got the carpet in without too much trouble, redid all the belts and got them in, have the seats in with temporary covers til i get so more  :money:. also setup my radio so it lights up. don't listen to AM radio anyways. almost done all the wiring except have no backup lights, and every time i signal the lever grounds the horn and i get a scare.it was funny at the start but it's annoying now. did get a new neutral safety switch to fix the backup lights, just need to get it in. :working: all in all it's coming along it's great. next is to dye the panels. just waiting for my rims to sell so i can buy it.

and chryco it's not that i'm rushing. i just don't have a job and all i have been doing is training for hockey so i can get a few hours into the car daily.
